How long will it take me to learn to use my computer?

This is a question we really can't answer - it depends so much on each persons needs, existing skills and motivation. In general we find that people often over-estimate how much can be covered in one session (eg. using the mouse/windows, the internet, scanning, excel and so on), and this really doesn't work. Most people need at least a few sessions of 1-2 hours each time.

I'm a complete idiot when it comes to computers. I'm too old/uneducated/stupid to learn.

A lot of people underestimate their ability to learn to use computers. Quite often they are put off by young whizz-kids who go too fast or talk in techno-babble.  In our experience, things like age, education and disability are not barriers to learning how to use a computer. People constantly surprise us with how rapidly they are able to adapt to technology.  With us, you can learn at your own pace, ask as many questions as you like, and go over things as much as you need to. If someone is having difficulty, we don't think "they're stupid" - we think "mmm..  I need to think of some other way of explaining that".

What hours are you open?

We are open 8.30 am to 5.30 pm Monday to Friday (Australian EST). We do sometimes work after hours, but higher fees are involved. Appointments are essential, even if you are coming to the office (as it is often unattended). If you ring while we are all busy / out you may well get the answering machine - if you leave a message we will call back as soon as possible (within normal business hours).

Do you come to me, or do I come to you?

Your choice. Most people prefer to get help at their own premises, but you are also welcome to come to our office in South Hobart (you need an appointment). Some tasks we can do more efficiently (and more cheaply) at our office (eg. removing adware and viruses, reinstalling windows).

What kinds of computers and software do you sell?

We don't retail computers or software. We can order things as required for our clients but basically if you are shopping around for equipment you are better off seeing a retailer. We can help you with your choice, however, so if you are confused about what to get, we can give you independent advice.

Do you deal with Macintoshes?

Yes we do, although some cases we may have to refer to Mac specialists.  If that is the case, we will certainly let you know.

What courses do you run, and how much do they cost?

We provide individual one-to-one (or small group) training, based on customised learning programs. We don't run courses or teach large groups. If you want a structured course, we can discuss your needs and requirements, and construct an appropriate training itinerary. We're also quite happy to provide training/tutoring support for people attending courses (eg. Adult Ed), who just need a bit of extra help to apply what they learn in their own situation.  Getting together a small group of friends who want to know about the same thing can be useful.  We recently had a group of hairdressers who all wanted ipad training, and got in champagne and sushi too!
